“One of California's most beautiful and exciting viticultural regions lies just 90 minutes north of the seemingly endless urban sprawl of Los Angeles…From ocean cooled valleys to stark mountain vineyards; from racy syrah to velvety pinot noir to the prospect of great cabernet; from rustic ranchers to reclusive celebrities— if any wine region can have it all, its Santa Barbara.”
-Anthony Dias Blue, Bon Appetit Tasting Panel Director
Since missionaries planted the first grapes here in the early 19th century, Santa Barbara County winemakers have been combining traditional, handmade techniques with the latest cutting-edge innovations in order to create some of the most superior wines in the region. The Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Maria Valley and Santa Rita Hills altogether comprise more than 21,000 acres of vineyards producing more than a million cases of some of the best chardonnay, pinot noir and syrah annually. Our region’s unique topography allows the flow of fog and sea breeze to shape distinct microclimates that have proven to be perfect for the cultivation of classic grape varietals. Not far from The Landsby, visitors can find wineries and tasting rooms pouring these world-class wines year round.
